Each class of high school graduates represents the next wave of influencers to hit college campuses. For the second year in a row, Niche explored the technology, services, and media shaping this year’s high school graduates through a survey of 10,000 college-bound High School Class of 2015 Niche users.
New for this year, Niche compared the Class of 2015 to last year’s Class of 2014 results to give greater insight into the technology that is gaining, losing, or holding ground. View last year’s State of Technology: Class of 2014.
Top 5 Noteworthy Mentions
- Pinterest (+23%) and Instagram (+20%) were the only other services with meaningful daily user growth.
- Yik Yak grew 383%, but is still very small, with only 2.9% of Class of 2015 using it daily.
- Facebook usage has not changed at all from the Class of 2014 to Class of 2015.
- LinkedIn continues to struggle with high school seniors with 89% reporting that they don’t use the service, although that’s better than 92% for the Class of 2014.
- Netflix is almost as popular as cable TV, and YouTube is already significantly more popular than cable TV.
